Greyhound racing will make a popular return to Oxford Stadium on Saturday evenings this month, with hospitality, executive suite and package nights out all available to book now!

The Cowley venue will host its first Saturday fixture of the year on March 25 as part of a fixture reshuffle which will see racing return on all Saturday nights for the foreseeable future.

Racegoers can dine in the all-new Savana Bar and Restaurant and enjoy a two-course hot meal with panoramic views of the track following the completion of its regeneration project only six months ago.

Group and corporate bookings are also available for friends, families and colleagues in the VIP executive suites. Capable of hosting 36 guests, each suite comes with its own private viewing area next to the first bend and dedicated team of bar staff and Tote betting operators.

The stadium’s Fab5 package can also be booked which includes admission, a race programme, a drink, burger and fries, a £2 Tote bet, free parking and access to the OXS Sports Bar and trackside viewing areas.

Kevin Boothby, Oxford Stadium Managing Director, has called on those yet to experience greyhound racing to be trackside and enjoy a fun, family friendly, night out.

“We’re really pleased to formalise the return of our Saturday evening fixtures which will play an essential role in inspiring a new audience for greyhound racing in Oxfordshire and its surrounds,” said Kevin.

“Our sport has extraordinary untapped potential and following decades of steady decline we want Oxford to establish itself as a flagship venue which can be at the heart of greyhound racing’s revival.

“That means attracting groups of friends, families and work colleagues by delivering a quality night out which everyone can enjoy. We’ll be upscaling our work to engage the younger generation too and educate them about the breed and our sport and why it can continue to thrive in years to come.”

Greyhound racing returned to Oxford in September 2022 following a 10-year absence after the stadium’s closure in December 2012.

Racing is now held four times each week on Monday evenings, Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Friday evenings. Kevin said the stadium’s Saturday fixtures will focus on increasing people’s awareness, understanding and enjoyment of the sport.

“Our midweek racing schedule will always be the bread and butter of our operation,” said Kevin. “However, we are aware to drive greyhound racing forwards engaging new audiences must be one of our key priorities.

“We have already held talks with colleagues in Ireland regarding student race nights which are very much part of our plans moving forwards and how we can make our sport appeal to schoolchildren during the holidays.

“It’s a work in progress and our team behind the scenes are determined to showcase greyhound racing as a sport which can be enjoyed by all.”

Doors will open for all Saturday evening fixtures at Oxford at 6pm with the first race due off at 7.30pm. General admission is available for £10 online or £12 on the door.
