Oxford Stadium will recognise the outstanding achievements of greyhounds participating at its graded fixtures from September by introducing an all-new Greyhound of the Month prize.
The Cowley venue will select one greyhound each month that has performed beyond expectations with owners receiving a trophy and a complimentary meal for four in the Savana Bar and Restaurant.
Each winning greyhound will be chosen jointly by stadium representatives and members of the racing office with the winner announced on the first Monday of each month.
They will consider each greyhound’s results, their consistency, performance and improvement when making their decision based on weekly fixtures which take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Kevin Boothby, Oxford Stadium Managing Director, said: “Greyhound ownership is great fun and extremely cost-effective with packages available to suit all budgets.
“We’re continually looking at ways to improve our owner experience at Oxford Stadium and are pleased to launch this all-new Greyhound of the Month prize which will celebrate the achievements of runners participating at all levels of the sport.
“Whether you own 100% of a greyhound or are part of a wider syndicate, this is an opportunity for your dog to have its moment in the limelight.
“Our first prize will be awarded in October following an exciting programme of fixtures in September which include marking the first anniversary of greyhound racing’s return to Oxford Stadium.”
