Professional greyhound trainer Tom Levers is excited for a new challenge after becoming the latest handler to join Oxford Stadium.

Based in Guildford, Tom has been training greyhounds for over a decade and cares for 50 racing dogs with the support of a team of full and part-time staff.

The 33-year-old also manages his own breeding operation where he aspires to rear the future superstars of the sport. Now, he’s joined Oxford Stadium’s list of attached trainers and will run his greyhounds at the venue’s four weekly fixtures.

It’s a challenge Tom is excited for, and he can’t wait to get going.

“We’re really pleased to be onboard at Oxford,” said Levers. “It’s a track that demands early pace but likewise you need a bit of stamina on the straights which should suit our dogs well.

“We’ve had some success already with Beach Babe reaching the Category One Star Sports Galaxy final in March plus Liquid Lunch who made the bet365 Challenge Cup final last December.

“Dens Benji and Jasmine Lily are other Category One finalists there as well so we’re no strangers to Oxford. Typically, we’ll run 35 greyhounds each week but obviously that can vary.

“It’s a big operation with home breeding also an important aspect of our work. It takes a lot of time and dedication, but we’re passionate about the sport and joining Oxford is an exciting step for the kennel.”

Oxford Stadium currently hosts four greyhound racing fixtures each week. Racing on Monday and Friday evenings starts at 6.17pm, with Tuesday morning and Saturday afternoon fixtures also operating.

Tickets for all fixtures can be purchased by visiting Oxford Stadium’s online ticketing hub by clicking here.
