Brothers Maverick and Goose all set for BGBF British Bred Puppy Cup final

Brothers Keefill Maverick and Keefill Goose will fly the flag for Yorkshire on Saturday at Oxford Stadium in the final of the BGBF British Bred Puppy Cup at 1.14pm.

Trained by Phil Milner, the pair made their racing debuts in December with Maverick winning two out of four races while Goose is yet to get off the mark but has placed second in his last two runs.

Joining the brothers in Saturday’s final is David Mullins’ Romeo Cypher who will run from trap two.

Oxford meanwhile will be represented by the Kevin Hutton trained duo Union Rebel and Union Blizzard – also littermates – while Tom Levers’ Beach Bull runs from trap five. The £10,000 to-the-winner race is UK greyhound racing’s first Category One prize of the year.

And Phil is keeping his fingers crossed that his team can get their hands on the trophy.

“(Keefill) Maverick has always been the more forward of the pair,” Phil told the GBGB. “(Keefill) Goose is more puppyish, but we’re delighted with both of course and how the litter is progressing generally.

“David Mullins’ greyhound (Romeo Cypher) will take a lot of beating, and we’d probably have a better chance if drawn inside of him rather than outside.

“Kevin Hutton’s Union Rebel is also coming on well and Tom Levers’ Beach Bull will be flying home. We’re really looking forward to Saturday!”

Admission for Saturday’s BGBF British Bred Puppy Cup is £5 with racing beginning at 11.23am. Doors open at 10.30am and all tickets can be purchased by clicking here.

Racing also takes place in the evening with the first of 12 races due off at 6.29pm.
