Oxford Plumbing Supplies has thrown its weight behind the regeneration of Oxford Stadium and rebirth of Oxford Speedway by becoming a key partner ahead of opening night.

Based a stone’s throw from our multi-purpose facility on Harrow Road, the company is part of the UK Plumbing Supplies group which has branches in seven locations including Carterton, Chipping Norton, Bicester, Didcot, Henley-on-Thames and Thame.

The group boasts more than 50 years combined experience in the industry and is Oxfordshire’s leading independent plumbing and heating merchant, supplying both trade and the general public.

Oxford Plumbing Supplies has partnered with Oxford Stadium to entertain employees and customers from its trackside executive suite and will become a heat sponsor when Oxford Cheetahs and Chargers take to the track in April.

Lewis Moss, Profit Centre Manager at Oxford Plumbing Supplies, said: “We’re really pleased to support the regeneration of Oxford Stadium and speedway’s return to the city by becoming a key partner.

“Many of my colleagues have great memories attending greyhound racing and speedway at the stadium before it closed in 2012. Its reopening has generated a huge buzz locally, and visitors to our Oxford branch often make a quick diversion before picking up supplies to monitor progress.

“The plans in place to transform the stadium into a multi-purpose hub are really exciting. We can’t wait for opening night.”

Lewis’ association to Oxford Stadium is mirrored by people across the county, and he hopes its reopening will connect a “missed generation” with the much-loved Cowley venue.

He added: “I attended speedway every week from 1993 until the club closed 15 years ago. The club is famed for its success in the 1980s with legendary riders such as Hans Nielsen and the late Simon Wigg, hopefully the club can build on that success this year.

“My family were heavily involved in greyhound racing too, so Oxford Stadium was a huge part of my childhood. I used to own a greyhound and remember the excitement and atmosphere race nights generated.

“It’s fantastic to know these experiences will be replicated once more when the stadium reopens next month.”

Lisa Hust, Commercial Operations Manager at Oxford Stadium, added: “We’d like to thank Oxford Plumbing Supplies for their generosity and support concerning our regeneration project.

“Lewis and the team were keen to connect with the stadium and we look forward to hosting them on race nights very soon. Their energy and enthusiasm for our reopening is shared across Oxfordshire communities and we’re excited to open our doors to the public next month.”
