Racegoers at Oxford Stadium have raised a glass to the Cowley venue’s return by enjoying a locally produced multi award-winning tipple in the refurbished Savana Bar and Restaurant.

The multi-purpose venue has launched ‘The OX GIN Bar’ in its panorama restaurant after entering a partnership with Chalgrove-based OX Gins.

Founded by Bob and Jenny Clark in 2017, OX Gins supplies its eight brands named after Oxfordshire postcodes to prestigious bars and Michelin Star restaurants across the UK.

Now, the family-run business will entertain customers closer to home as part of Oxford Stadium’s regeneration project – which is seeing the return of much-missed sports and community activities following a decade of closure.

Lisa Hust, Commercial Operations Manager at Oxford Stadium, said: “After months of intense building works, it’s great to finally launch the OX GIN Bar for visitors to our speedway and greyhound racing events.

“We’re really pleased to have OX Gins onboard with our exciting relaunch in the city and hope our visitors enjoy sampling their award-winning range of locally produced drinks.

“The bar has been completely transformed from its former state thanks to the continuous work of our team of skilled workers who have revolutionised the stadium’s entire interior to help people enjoy a great night out.”

Bob and Jenny founded OX Gins from their home in Chalgrove and moved production to Chalgrove Artisan Distillery last year.

The distillery has its own tasting room and gin school, where visitors can take control of a copper alembic still and create their very own gins.

Owner Bob Clark said all eight drinks will be available at the stadium, including OX Gins’ award-winning OX44 Gin which won a Gold Award at the prestigious London Spirits Competition in 2019.

“It’s fantastic to see Oxford Stadium open again and welcoming sell-out crowds through its doors each week,” said Bob. “I have many happy memories attending events in its previous era and we’re pleased to be part of the venue’s successful regeneration programme.

“The team’s commitment to working with local organisations is providing visitors with the true Oxfordshire experience, which is something we had to be involved in.

“Our gins are created using a neutral grain spirit which we add flavourings to from our selected botanicals including juniper berries and coriander. We look forward to working in partnership with Oxford Stadium and helping bring the good times back.”

The OX GIN Bar will be open at all speedway and greyhound racing fixtures in 2022, serving a selection of beers, spirits and soft drinks.
