A long-serving supporter of Oxford Stadium has agreed a multi-year partnership with the Cowley venue ahead of its highly anticipated opening next month.

Blanchford Building Supplies is a leading independent supplier of building materials, timber and landscaping products for trade and retail customers. The business partnered with Oxford Stadium at the turn of the millennium to entertain guests from its trackside executive suite.

After being devastated by the venue’s closure in 2012, Blanchford Managing Director Adrian Smith quickly committed to supporting our reopening by becoming a key partner. The move will bring back many happy memories for Blanchford employees and customers, who will be able to enjoy greyhound racing and speedway from the company’s branded executive suite.

“We enjoyed a long association with Oxford Stadium before it closed almost a decade ago,” said Adrian. “We were regular visitors, and the greyhound and speedway racing are fantastic nights out for people to experience.

“What excites us are the team’s plans to transform the venue into a multi-purpose seven-day-a-week community hub. Its partnership with the Frank Bruno Foundation is a fantastic move, and one which will positively impact the lives of people living locally.

“There is an enormous amount of space which will be used for a variety of projects so Oxford Stadium appeals to everyone. The stadium’s opening is exactly what our city needs, it’s a really exciting time and we’re thrilled to be part of it.”

With less than five weeks remaining until the stadium’s official launch night, Adrian was invited for a tour of our facility with Operations Director Tim Newman and Marketing Manager Ian Rycroft.

When complete, Oxford Stadium will be able to host up to 2,500 visitors to its greyhound racing and speedway events.

Lisa Hust, Commercial Operations Manager at Oxford Stadium, added: “With a lasting relationship to Oxford Stadium, Blanchford Building Supplies was one of the first organisations to enquire about supporting our regeneration project.

“We are thrilled to have them on board and look forward to hosting its workers and customers on race nights very soon. Remarkably, former displays and signage belonging to Blanchford remained hanging on the walls when we first unlocked access to the stadium last summer.

“Our team of skilled workers have revolutionised Blanchford’s former suite to bring it up to date and make it an attractive space for hospitality, events and conference purposes.”

Blanchford Building Supplies was founded in 1938 by brothers Fred, Cecil and Ronald Blanchford. The business now operates across Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire with branches in Oxford, Princes Risborough, Wallingford and Bicester serving trade and retail customers.
