Oxford Stadium will raise a glass to a selection of locally produced multi award-winning gins this autumn by hosting its first ever gin tasting experience.
Chalgrove-based OX Gins will entertain visitors at its Ultimate Gin Tasting Experience on Thursday, September 1, from 7-9pm inside the Cowley venue’s panoramic Savana Bar and Restaurant.
Launched in 2017, OX Gins supplies its eight brands named after Oxfordshire postcodes to prestigious bars and Michelin Star restaurants across the UK.
Guests at next month’s event will sample five OX Gins brands and canapes, including its best-selling OX44 tipple which was voted best gin in the UK at the London Spirits Awards in 2019.
Founder Bob Clark said the evening is a must for all Oxfordshire gin enthusiasts who wish to learn more about the production processes in a fun and relaxing environment.
“In the UK, 80 million bottles of gin were estimated to be sold last year,” said Bob. “It’s a staggering figure, and one that underlines just how popular gin is locally.
“The distilling process to create such a popular drink is complex, but since introducing gin tasting experiences at Chalgrove Artisan Distillery we’ve had a lot of fun.
“We find visitors leave with a new perception on how they sample their favourite drink, and hopefully we experience the same feedback at our Ultimate Gin Tasting Experience at Oxford Stadium.
“Our gins are created using a neutral grain spirit which we add flavourings to from our selected botanicals including juniper berries and coriander. It’s a fun evening out and hopefully we see plenty of people on the night!”
The event follows the launch of ‘The OX Gin Bar’ inside Oxford Stadium’s panoramic restaurant. The bar is open for all speedway and greyhound racing fixtures and serves all eight of OX Gins’ locally produced drinks.
