Owning A Greyhound
There is nothing quite like the thrill of owning and supporting your own racing greyhound.
Racing greyhounds from puppies can cost as little as £400, with the price rising depending on the success rate of its immediate family.
All greyhound owners must be registered as an owner with the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB). Once registered, an owner can place their greyhound with a GBGB licensed trainer who operates within the sport’s ‘Rules of Racing’.

Oxford Stadium is committed to providing every greyhound with an enjoyable life before, during and after their racing careers.
As most greyhounds retire from the track aged three to five, this means is it our responsibility to work in partnership with the GBGB, trainers, owners and local charities to find a loving, suitable, home for every greyhound in retirement.
We will do this through our strong community partnerships, the GBGB’s Greyhound Retirement Scheme (GRS) and Injury Recovery Scheme (IRS).
Greyhounds make fantastic pets in retirement. We recommend each retired greyhound receives a minimum of two half-hour walks each day to keep them happy.
