FromPostToPillar etched his name in Oxford Stadium history on Friday night when winning the £10,000 RPGTV Cowley Puppy Collar in front of a jubilant crowd.

The 4/7 favourite was last out of the traps as Elizabeth McNair’s other greyhound – Havana AllABlaze – made the early running.

FromPostToPillar rallied to draw upsides Lively Lauren entering turn one where the pair bumped, leaving the eventual winner four lengths off the pace at the entrance to the back straight.

That gap was reduced to a length entering turn three, and he quickly took the lead before extending to win by five lengths. Everything considered, FromPostToPillar’s winning time (26.89) points to a very bright future.

Assistant trainer Rab McNair said his ability is “frightening” after the race.

“I saw him run a race at Tralee and my eyes jumped out of my head,” said McNair. “I realised then he was a serious dog.

“He’s a monster, it’s almost scary.

“Before the race there was a lot of banter with people saying ‘let’s see what happens if he’s behind’. Last week he delivered the goods and the same happened tonight.

“It’s terrific to win the first major final at Oxford Stadium.”

Havana AllABlaze gamely ran on to finish second with Lively Lauren third and Romeo Mission fourth.
